Proposal – 35 MW facility with 42.5 MW of diesel backup generators and est. 12.5 MWv Lithium-ion backup power. Closed-Loop Cooling System.

Status – City Staff are drafting a Interim Control Bylaw (ICB) to be voted upon at the September 16th, 2026 Council Meeting.

Hive Digital Techologies 320 MW AI Data Centre in Oakville, Ontario (looking South)

As of August 4th, 2026, no application before Oakville Town Council.

Proposal – Based on company’s website information (accessed August 7th, 2026), Hive Digital Technologies is planning to build a 320 MW Data Centre on 25 acres of land purchased in Oakville, Ontario. The facility will be designed to specifically for AI workloads, 100,000 GPU. The company notice cites the possible use of Nvida H100s, A6000s, and A5000s processors. The data centre will use a closed-loop system. The $3.5 billion investment is expected to come on line in the second quarter of 2027.

Status – Oakville City Council appears to be unaware of the proposal. City Staff have proposed a report on the data centres and Council will debate the adoption of an Interim Control Bylaw on Monday, August 10th, 2026 at 6:30 pm. The motion is being put forward by
